Did you know that during the Joseon Dynasty there was a travel ban that lasted about 200 years?

Like any city, Jeju has had both good times and bad times, but it has managed to maintain itself as a society, and get ahead thanks to the perseverance and strength of its residents. This has allowed others to see all the positive aspects the island and its people can offer; thus, becoming one of the biggest tourist attractions in Korea.

The Hallasan volcano has allowed the island to create a perfect natural ecosystem. Here, a national park, beautiful beaches as Hamdeok Seoubong (함덕 서우봉해변), Hyeopjae Beach (협재해변), and Woljeongri Beach (월정리해변) can be found. Also, mountains such as the Hallasan National Park(한라산국립공원), Ilchulbong of Mount Seongsan (성산일출봉), and Saebyeol Oreum (새별오름) are a must visit. The island not only has islets around it as Udo (우도), Gapado (가파도) and Marado (마라도), but also amazing caves made by lava and beautiful waterfalls.

Did you know there is a traditional diving profession in Jeju?

“Haenyeo” is a group of women, mostly over 50 years of age, who dive without oxygen assistance up to 10 meters deep to “harvest” fish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, among other sea creatures.

The great work of these women was recognized as the first formal women work in Korea, and to top it off, it has also been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Jeju offers you a 24/7 entertainment experience, no one will ever want to leave. As only an island, you can already imagine everything the whole country has to offer. Besides having a great offer of natural attractions, it also has great attractions, such as museums, parks, cafes and restaurants with delicious food.

Finally, the most recommended seasons to travel are the periods from March to May and June to August, taking into account its weather conditions.
