
Since a time ago, K-pop artists, especially from the old school, have been creating their own agencies and record labels. Examples include PSY with P Nation, Jackson Wang with Team Wang, or Jay Park with AOMG. The singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong is not the exception to this trend, in 2018 he founded his record label under the name HENECIA. Next, we will know more about him and his artists.
On June 6, 2018 (Kim Hyun Joong’s birthday) the singer announced his musical release of the Japanese album “TAKE MY HAND”, the first under the HENECIA record label. The name of the label comes from his fandom name, which, in turn, comes from H for his name Hyun and enecia for benecia, a Latin word that means blessed (Alejandra, 2020). On the day of the album’s release, Kim Hyun Joong said, “Since it’s my own music label, I’ve become more attached to music than ever before (now I feel closer to music than ever before), and I’d like to include messages in my own songs” (Triple s Hispano, 2018). The creation of his agency has given the singer musical freedom to not only make K-pop releases but also focus more on rock with different shades.

Kim Hyun Joong’s record label operates in Japan as HENECIA MUSIC and in Korea just as HENECIA. Said agency began hosting a single artist, its creator Kim Hyun Joong, but then the rock band Atom Music Heart joined him; followed by Julia Dream, a psychedelic/progressive rock band, and finally the soloist and composer Jung-Gil who follows the more traditional trend of ballads. Unlike the last artist to join the company, the bands Atom Music Heart and Julia Dream had previously debuted in Korea, while Jung-Gil debuted under the company with the song Don’t call me after 12 o’clock.
Regarding its artists, the company has mentioned that:
“HENECIA will do our best to produce trendy and unique content to communicate with fans. Our company is constantly trying to balance the need to serve our fans well. We promise that HENECIA will take a big step forward as a global music management company beyond the belief of ‘together’”(HENECIA, 2018).
It is well-known by fans that the company always tries to provide the best material both on YouTube and on the artists’ social networks. In addition to providing all the facilities for the acquisition of official merchandise by fans from all over the world, always considering that its audience is not only limited to Asia, but also to Latin American and European countries.
